Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar has said that Sir Syed Government Girls College in Nazimabad has a tradition of imparting quality education and its problems will be resolved on a preferential basis.
Speaking as chief guest in a debate contest held at the college on Wednesday, he said it had become mandatory to provide better education to girls in society.
The mayor said the repairing of the road and the pavement outside the college and the removal of encroachments would be done soon.
He said the Sir Syed College was one of the key higher educational institutions “for our children and this college has maintained its standard”.
Later, talking to media representatives, Akhtar said he wanted to help the government to solve the problems of Karachi. Heaps of garbage were lying everywhere in the city and the government was not doing anything to remove them, he added.
